About the Directors
Prof. Buyinza Faisal
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
Faisal is an Associate Professor at the School of Economics, Makerere University where he also serves as the head of department, Economic Theory and Analysis He has taught at the University for more than 20 years and supervised research for more than 10 PhD students in addition to many Masters students. He holds a PhD in Economics from Johannes Kepler University Linz-Austria and his dissertation was on determinants of commercial bank profitability. He has widely published more than 30 articles in academic and policy journals and he is a member of African Econometric Association, (AEA), African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), and also a research associate at Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC). He has published more than 30 journal articles in different top journals
Faisal has done a lot of consultancy work for international and local organisations which include; World Bank, USAID, Uganda Communication Commission, Uganda Revenue Authority, UNICEF, and many other government ministries and agencies. He is an expert in Data analysis using STATA, SPSS, E-VIEWS, PC Give and Latex.
Mr. Sekatawa Issah
PhD CANDIDATE
Issah is a Lecturer at the School of Economics, Makerere University where he has taught for 9 years and he is the head of Financial Economics at the University. He holds an M.A. in Economics from Makerere University and he is currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at Makerere University. He is a Certified Professional Banker and an associate of the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services. He has also completed the first level of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program of the CFA Institute. Issah is a seasoned banker and has served at the Managerial level for six top commercial banks in Uganda for 15 years. At the time of his resignation in May 2023, he served as the Regional Manager- Central Region at Equity Bank.
As an associate, he has worked with top recruitment firms to recruit executive staff for organisations. In the banking sector, he has so far assisted, Housing Finance Bank, EFC, and Tropical Bank to recruit Senior executives.
He has twice represented Uganda for the China-Uganda bilateral fiscal policy discussions in Beijing, China in 2017 and in 2023. He is an expert in Business growth and development, Business Valuation, Financial Analysis, Financial Modeling, and Human Resource Management. He is also a Certified Trainer of trainers.
